1-1 Cricket Coaching session working on Dr Anandans Ride Height and Balance

In this 1-to-1 batting session with Dr Anandan we concentrated on lowering his centre of gravity to improve weight transfer and overall shot balance, using the “Crouching Tiger” mantra as the mental and physical cue. The session began with posture and alignment drills—shadow batting with emphasis on a slightly wider base, soft knees, and a stable, grounded stance. “Crouching Tiger” reminded him to stay low and coiled, ready to explode through the ball rather than being upright and disconnected.

We progressed into dynamic drills where Dr Anandan practiced initiating shots from that lowered position: front-foot drives, controlled punch shots, and half-volleys, all while maintaining balance through impact. The mantra helped him resist the instinct to rise early, instead keeping his head and body over the line of the ball, allowing natural weight transfer from back to front foot. Simple resistance-band exercises reinforced the feeling of staying connected through the core while rotating, preventing upper-body overreach.

To make the improvement tangible, we used Full Track AI to capture and analyze trunk angle, knee flex depth, and centre-of-mass progression during his stroke. The data confirmed a more stable base, smoother weight flow through the ball, and reduced “bouncing” at impact. Video playback alongside the “before and after” feeling cemented his understanding.

By the end of the session, Dr Anandan was not only executing shots with better balance and power but had internalized the “Crouching Tiger” position as the foundation for consistency under pressure. This session provided him with a reliable physical and cognitive template to return to in match situations.
